How dental implants can save your smile

You’ve had a tooth removed and now you’re wondering how to replace it. It’s easy to imagine you will never smile again. Will you have to dental implantslive with an incomplete, gapped smile? Dr. Charles E. Scholler and Dr. Daniel Cronk in Somis, CA want you to know a lost tooth isn’t the end of your smile! It’s time to consider a dental implant to replace your lost tooth and save your smile.

Thanks to the modern technology of dental implants, you don’t have to settle for conventional tooth replacement options like bridgework, partials or a denture. A dental implant is a much better solution for many reasons. Drs. Scholler and Cronk want you to know when you choose a dental implant, you can count on:

  • Beauty, because dental implant crowns are made of translucent porcelain
  • A natural appearance, because they look just like your teeth, only better
  • Permanence, because your implants are locked in place by bone
  • Convenience, because you clean them just like natural teeth
  • Satisfaction, because you can eat the foods you want
  • A high success rate, over 95 percent, the highest of any surgical implant!

When you choose a dental implant placed by your Somis dentists, you have chosen a conservative treatment. Unlike bridgework, Drs. Scholler and Cronk don’t have to prepare the teeth around the implant, only the implant area. Because they are made of porcelain, dental implants resist staining and remain beautifully white and sparkling. They also don’t ever decay!

A huge benefit to dental implants is they help you retain a youthful face, by conserving the bone in your jaw. This gives you a firm jawline and more youthful facial contours. In contrast, dental appliances like dentures can put pressure on your jaw, causing your bone to disappear, a process called resorption. Over time, your face will begin to sag. Dental implants can help you avoid bone loss and remain looking younger.

A lost tooth isn’t the end of your smile. It’s time to invest in saving your smile with dental implants. It’s time to call Dr. Charles E. Scholler and Dr. Daniel Cronk in Somis, CA. Get your full, beautiful smile back with dental implants by calling today!

Get a Lifelong Restoration

Even though nothing is as good as natural teeth, you’ll be impressed to find that implants are a close second. When it comes to function and appearance, you will not find another dental restoration in Camarillo that’s as good as implants. That’s because implants are made from durable titanium and function just like natural tooth roots.

Plus the implant is biocompatible, which means that it will naturally fuse together with bone and tissue to become a permanent structure in your mouth, which no other restoration can do. With the proper care, an implant can last the rest of your life!

Boost Your Self-Esteem

It probably goes without saying that when you having missing teeth, you feel self-conscious about your smile. No one wants colleagues, friends, and family to notice their incomplete smile over what they have to say, and implants will not only restore your smile but also your overall appearance. Being scared to smile will be a thing of the past.

Feel Confident in Social Situations

Again, when you are dealing with tooth loss you may find that you cancel plans with people or you avoid speaking to coworkers or clients. Whatever the case may be we understand that being social is an important part of being human and that everyone needs that.

Because implants are permanent restorations, you don’t have to worry about them slipping around in your mouth like you would with dentures and you don’t have to worry about taking them out to clean them. Enjoy eating all your favorite foods and talking to anyone again. No one will even be able to tell that you have implants.

Improve Your Oral Health

Tooth loss can wreak havoc on your oral health. It causes bone deterioration, gum recession, and shifting teeth. No one wants to deal with even more issues for their smile. Preserve jawbone health and your natural facial structure, and prevent the rest of your teeth from shifting out of place when you get dental implants.

If you want to get dental implants in Camarillo, CA, then it’s time you scheduled a consultation with us. Call Charles E. Scholler, D.D.S. and let us know that you are interested in getting implants. We would be happy to setup a consultation.

Find out the different dental treatments in Camarillo that could give you a new and improved smile.

Are you ready to breathe new life into your lifeless smile? Looking for some cosmetic dentistry options to suit your needs? Your Camarillo cosmetic dentist Dr. Charles E. Scholler is here to offer a wide variety of cosmetic treatments to give patients the smiles they deserve.

Dental bonding and contouring

Are you looking to buff out minor cracks and chips or cover small stains? If so, this non-invasive cosmetic treatment may be all you need to have the perfect smile. Dental bonding uses a tooth-colored resin that is applied in layers over the tooth. The material is putty-like so your Camarillo dentist Dr. Charles E. Scholler can easily shape and manipulate the resin to give you a natural look. Dental bonding can also be used in conjunction with cosmetic contouring, in which we remove small pieces of enamel to change the size and shape of a tooth.

Teeth Whitening

If you are looking to remove surface stains from your teeth and get a brighter smile then look no further than professional in-office teeth whitening. This painless one-hour procedure can get smiles several shades whiter in just one visit. Your whitening session will entail three, 15-minute whitening applications with a professional grade whitening gel that your Camarillo dentist Dr. Charles E. Scholler activates using a laser. The strength of the gel coupled with our laser technology allows us to speed up the whitening process exponentially.

Dental Veneers

For those looking to hide severe stains, cracks, chips, overlapping, misshapen teeth and gaps between teeth, dental veneers could be the answer you’ve been waiting for. If whitening can’t brighten your smile and your issues are too severe for dental bonding then these thin porcelain shells will be able to fix your dental woes. Two visits are all it takes to get your very own custom-made veneers. We will first remove some enamel from your teeth to make room for your new veneers. Then we will choose a shade for your veneers and take impressions of your teeth. Once your veneers are made you will come back in and have your Camarillo dentist Dr. Charles E. Scholler cement them to your teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a long-term solution to tooth loss. Made up of a small metal screw, a connector known as an abutment and a dental crown, dental implants can give you a complete smile in only a few months. Dental implants require two to three surgeries to place the implant, attach the abutment to the top of the implant and then to finally place the crown over the abutment. What you are left with is a natural and long-lasting new tooth for life.

Want to know if you are a good candidate for any of these treatments? Then it’s time to schedule a consultation with your Camarillo dentist Dr. Charles E. Scholler. Get the smile you’ve always wanted.

Dental Implants Offer Somis and Camarillo Residents Cosmetic Benefits Today, Long-Term Dental Health Benefits Tomorrow

When it comes to replacing a missing tooth or teeth, dental implants are the only option that does not require changes to your surrounding teeth, encourages jawbone growth and is sturdy. Dental implants have been used to replace missing teeth for several decades, and a growing number of patients rely on dental implants each year to smile without gaps in their teeth. Dental Implants
The decision to place a dental implant is often focused on the immediate results. Eliminating a gap in your smile can provide a quick self-confidence boost. Also, the dental implant can make it easier to eat and speak as compared to a denture that can slip out of place.

Exploring the Benefits of Dental Implants

Many of my Camarillo patients opt for dental implants not only because of these immediate benefits, but also due to the long-term ones. This can make for many compelling reasons to select dental implants as tooth replacement options.
The premise of the dental implant is to place a titanium, screw-like implant that acts much like your tooth’s root. Titanium is a unique material often utilized for dental services because it is lightweight and bone fuses around it, meaning it is usually well-tolerated in the jawbone. Once the bone has healed around the implant, a connector known as an abutment is placed over the implant. Following that is the application of a custom-made crown to complete your smile’s appearance.
While your crown can be replaced or “restored” if it appears discolored or you injure the tooth, the dental implant is always a permanent fixture. This means I can easily replace the implant’s crown at a later date, if my Camarillo, CA implant dentistry patient so desires. However, you do not have to go in and have further dental work or require the implant to be replaced. This is different from dental bridges, which require replacement every 10 years and can require further dental work to support the bridge.
Another long-term benefit to dental implants is jawbone retention and even growth. When you lose a tooth, the jawbone where the area was starts to recede or go away. The effect is known as bone resorption. This has a number of effects on your smile, including causing your teeth to shift in place. If you have lost several teeth, this can cause a condition known as “facial collapse” that makes your face appear more hollow and adjust the overall appearance of your face. Dental implants can prevent facial structure collapse, but other tooth replacement options, such as bridges and dentures, do not offer this benefit.
If you have already experienced jawbone resorption after tooth loss, you may require procedures to increase the amount of bone in your jaw. This is known as bone grafting. Once you have enough bone in your jaw to support dental implant placement, the bone will remain if the dental implant is successful. Dental implants do have a high rate of success -- about 85 percent after 10 years, according to a study in the Journal of Oral Implantology.

Per-Ingvar Branemark: The Man Behind Osseointegration

You are probably reading this blog post and thinking—okay, what’s the big deal? Who is Per-Ingvar Branemark? Osseointegration - Dental Implants

Where would we be without Per-Ingvar Branemark?

He didn’t invent dental implants or even introduce the idea to the dentistry field, but he did bring something else to the table, or to be exact, the dentist chair. Dr. Per-Ingvar Branemark introduced his work and application of osseointegration to a Toronto conference. The rest is history, and now Nobel Biocare maintains the Branemark System.

How does osseointegration factor into the dental implant procedure?

It factors into it a lot. The implant is only one part of the equation. If you want a dental implant to be successful, you need osseointegration.
Just imagine a dental implant without it. You can’t, and that’s our point. Dental implants only work if the jawbone cells attach to the screw-like implant, which is ultimately the process of osseointegration. And it’s the main reason implants have a 95 percent success rating.

With the help of osseointegration, your dental implants are set

Once the screw-like implant connects with the jawbone (osseointegration), it’s stabilized. What does this mean? A stabilized implant is permanent, and a permanent implant and crown will improve your teeth and jaws chewing function, ability to pronounce words and smile with confidence. (You can find more information on dental implants including before & after photos here)
When you crunch into a piece of celery, you don’t need to worry about your prosthetic device slipping unannounced. Or cause you to possibly slur mid-sentence. Plus, getting ready for bed has never been so easy. You only need to brush and floss your teeth like you normally would, without taking extra time to remove and clean a denture or bridge.
How does a dental implant sound to you? Because it’s a sound procedure, and if you want to talk more about dental implants in Camarillo, call (805) 386-3199.
